Networks and fieldbus modules

  • POWERLINK - Ethernet TCPIP

    POWERLINK - Ethernet TCPIP

POWERLINK as a standard Ethernet-based system represents the second generation of fieldbuses. This makes it possible to apply the full power of IT technologies to the automation field for the first time. POWERLINK is ideally suited for drives, I/O, visualization and data exchange between PLC systems.

  • DeviceNet

    DeviceNet

DeviceNet is an open fieldbus standard, also based on the CAN protocol and standardized in IEC 62026 as well as EN 50325. Protocol specifications and the maintenance of the DeviceNet standard are overseen by the independent and open user organization ODVA (Open DeviceNet Vendor Association). DeviceNet uses the CAN specification on the lower layers of the ISO/OSI model (layers 1 - 4) with just a few limitations. On the upper layers (5 - 7), DeviceNet uses the Common Industrial Protocol (CIP) defined by the ODVA.

  • CAN bus

    CAN bus

CAN bus has had much success, particularly in machine manufacturing, and is steadily gaining importance. High resistance to disturbance, high-speed data transfer, ease of use and deterministic real-time behavior are among the reasons for this success. CAN is the ideal fieldbus for applications with a manageable number of remote I/O nodes and few axes. As a fieldbus, CAN bus reaches its limits when dealing with larger and more complex machines. For these applications, however, POWERLINK is the ideal expansion into the higher performance range.

  • CANopen

    CANopen

CANopen is a communication protocol for layer 7 (user layer in the ISO/OSI model), which features a high degree of flexibility for configuration and uses CAN as layer 2 transport medium. Originally developed for motion applications, it is now an established protocol in a wide range of application areas, such as medical engineering, naval navigation, railroading and even building automation.

  • PROFINET

    PROFINET

PROFINET RT is a specified Industrial Ethernet Standard from the PI (PROFIBUS & PROFINET International) organization, and is based on proven TCP/IP and IT standards. The PROFINET standard differentiates between three different performance classes: PROFINET NRT (non-real-time); PROFINET RT (real-time) and PROFINET IRT (isochronous real-time)

  • PROFIBUS DP

    PROFIBUS DP

Started in 1987 as a publicly promoted project in Germany, PROFIBUS has become one of the most important fieldbuses worldwide. With a share of more than 90% of all PROFIBUS fieldbus devices, PROFIBUS DP has a clear focus; it is a high-speed (up to 12 Mbit/s) and simple protocol for classic automation tasks in the area of production engineering. PROFIBUS PA distinguishes itself by providing the possibility to implement intrinsically safe operation and to supply field devices via the process engineering bus.

  • POWERLINK development kits

    POWERLINK development kits

The POWERLINK slave development and testing kit for Altera FPGAs includes: IP Core and software (including industrial Ethernet MAC and hub, POWERLINK slave software for the Altera Nios II processor, API for the host controller, • FPGA evaluation board for test implementations, • POWERLINK test system (X20 SPS, X20 I/O, Automation Studio) • Training, support and documentation
